Assignment
Specific objectives of my research are to:
1) Develop molecular techniques for cotton genome analysis
2) Discover molecular markers that can be useful as tools for marker assisted selection programs
3) Identify, characterize, map and detect chromosomal location of potentially useful genes associated with photoperiod, agronomic and fiber traits and resistance to nematodes and insect pests of cotton using molecular tools
4) Use of cytogenetic stocks in enhancing the germplasm of Upland cotton
5) Release to public and industry researchers and seed breeders germplasm with improved fiber, agronomic and pest resistant characteristics
