The Soil Microbial Ecology Laboratory is a part of the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences at Mississippi State University.  The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences has undergraduate majors in Agronomy and Horticulture, as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy graduate degree programs in Agronomy, Horticulture, and Weed Science.  The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences is housed in Dorman Hall on the southwestern edge of campus.  For more information on the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, visit the website.

Mississippi State University (MSU), founded in 1878, is a land-grant university in northeast Mississippi.  As of August 2007, MSU's total enrollment is 17,039. The main campus is located in Starkville, Mississippi. Starkville located in the northeast part of Mississippi and is 127 miles from Jackson, MS, 173 miles from Memphis, TN, and 140 miles from Birmingham, AL.  MSU is designated as a Doctoral I university by the Southern Regional Education Board and is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
